Welcome to Wedding Photographer Kent

I am a UK based wedding photographer based in Belvedere. I label myself as a documentary wedding photographer as I do my utmost to not direct or interfere with wedding proceedings.

I started photographing people back in 1995 when I used an old 35mm film camera. Like most people's experience with film cameras, most of the captures were wasted due to bad exposure. I studied Graphic Design and really developed a love for photography (having studied many photographers including Henri Cartier-Bresson) and learned how to develop film in a dark room and began to understand exposure in a more in-depth manner.

Camera equipment, especially professional, is not easy to purchase. For most of my photographic career I have used consumer camera equipment (Fuji Finepix being the first digital, shortly followed by a Canon 350D).

Back in 2011 I was presented with an opportunity to get hold of a Canon 5D mark 2 together with some L lenses and some flashes. This was the point at which I began to offer photography services professionally (for money).

Late 2012, I sold the 5D2 and got a 6D (for its low light capability) which was then sold for my current camera (in 2013), the Canon 5D Mark 3.

From the 5D mark 2 onwards, I actually felt confident of being able to deliver a good standard of frames. I also began to experiment with capturing personalities rather than just 'snap shots'. I am probably my own biggest critic - I photograph and feel happy until I see someone else's work.

I am a member of a number of groups and one group in particular (DWP) sets a very high bar, in my opinion, some of the best work today in the UK and USA.

I hope you find some of this information interesting. To see some more of my work click here.
